Derya Unutmaz
Professor at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine
Dr. Derya Unutmaz is a leading immunologist and professor at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. His research focuses on the mechanisms of human T cell differentiation, activation, and regulation in the contexts of normal immune response, diseases, and ageing.
Dr. Unutmaz earned his medical degree from Marmara University Medical School in Istanbul, Turkey. He completed postdoctoral studies at Novartis in Switzerland and at New York University (NYU) . He began his academic career as an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University, where he received tenure and was promoted to associate professor. In 2006, he joined the NYU School of Medicine as a tenured professor of microbiology, medicine, and pathology .
