Apostolos Bossios

Karolinska Institute Professor and European Respiratory Society assembly secretary for airway diseases

Dr Apostolos Bossios is a respiratory physician-scientist who skillfully combines clinical practice with translational research. Holding the role of a respiratory consultant at Karolinska University Hospital, he simultaneously serves as a Principal Researcher and Research Group Leader at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institute. His clinical research expertise primarily revolves around severe asthma and bronchiectasis.

Engaged in extensive international collaborations within the realms of severe asthma and bronchiectasis, Apostolos Bossios serves as the vice-chair within the steering committee of NSAN: Nordic Severe Asthma Network. Notably, NSAN manages NORDSTAR, recognized as the world's most extensive asthma database. Additionally, he actively participates in the steering committee of SHARP: Severe Heterogeneous Asthma Research collaboration, a Patient-centered European Respiratory Society Clinical Research Collaboration. Furthermore, he contributes his expertise as a member of the steering committee of The Swedish National Airway Register.

Moreover, Apostolos Bossios' involvement extends to EMBARC, the European Bronchiectasis Registry, which is also a European Respiratory Society Clinical Research Collaboration.

Lastly, within the European Respiratory Society, he currently holds the position of secretary within Assembly 5, which encompasses airway diseases, asthma, COPD, and chronic cough.
