  • Intermittent fasting could lead to increased heart disease mortality – a small study, so may not stand the test of time, but a good reminder that any intervention (drugs, supplements or lifestyle) may have long-term adverse effects as well as short-term gains.
  • University of Pittsburgh scientists have analysed the metabolome of 196 older adults and found 25 metabolites can be used as a new biological age clock. As some of the metabolites a linked to specific diseases it could act as a general health review too.
  • An NHS hospital tested an artificial intelligence (AI) tool called Mia to improve detection of early-stage breast cancer. It identified very small signs of cancer that had been overlooked by human doctors.
