Dr. Vivek H. Murthy is an American physician and public health leader who served as the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States. Born on July 10, 1977, in Huddersfield, England, and raised in Miami, Florida, Murthy is the first Surgeon General of Indian descent. He holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and both M.D. and M.B.A. degrees from Yale University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and later joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School.
