Stem cell biologist at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
Dr. Takanori Takebe is a physician-scientist renowned for his pioneering work in regenerative medicine and organoid technology. He serves as the Director for Commercial Innovation at the Center for Stem Cell and Organoid Medicine (CuSTOM) at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and holds professorships at both Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Yokohama City University in Japan.
Dr. Takebe's research focuses on developing three-dimensional organoids—miniature, lab-grown organs derived from human stem cells—that replicate the structure and function of human organs. His groundbreaking work includes creating vascularized liver organoids and interconnected systems of liver, pancreas, and bile duct tissues, advancing the field of personalized medicine and offering potential alternatives to organ transplantation.
