Stephen Armstrong is a journalist and author. He writes extensively for the Sunday Times, Wired, the Guardian and others on culture, technology and social change. He has written five books: The White Island; War plc; The Super Rich Shall Inherit the Earth; The Road to Wigan Pier Revisited; and The New Poverty – part of the Unreported Britain project. He founded the Wigan Pier Workshops, is a founder board member of the Orwell Youth Prize, part of the team behind Engage UK and an associate member of the Free Word Centre, which promotes and protects freedom of expression.
