Pablo Perez-Pinera is an associate professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he also holds appointments in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology, the Institute for Genomic Biology, the Cancer Center at Illinois and the Carle-Illinois College of Medicine. He earned M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Oviedo in Spain and completed postdoctoral training at Duke University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
His laboratory develops molecular tools to increase the efficacy and safety profiles of gene editing technologies, which he utilizes in gene therapies for correction of neurological and neuromuscular diseases.
