Jason Gill

Professor of Cardiometabolic Health at University of Glasgow

Jason M. Gill is a Professor of Cardiometabolic Health at University of Glasgow whose research spans molecular to whole-body investigations into how lifestyle factors like exercise, diet and adiposity influence vascular and metabolic disease. He leads a multidisciplinary group focused on understanding why certain populations — especially South Asians — are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of a “westernised” lifestyle, and how interventions in diet, physical activity and energy balance can reduce that risk. In addition to his research role, he serves as Director of the MSc programme in Sport and Exercise Science & Medicine and actively communicates science to the public through media appearances and educational events, emphasising the urgency of addressing lifestyle-driven cardiometabolic inequalities.
