Scientia Professor Vlado Perkovic is a distinguished nephrologist and global leader in kidney disease research, known for spearheading groundbreaking clinical trials that have influenced treatment guidelines worldwide. Currently serving as the Provost of UNSW Sydney, Professor Perkovic previously held the role of Dean of Medicine & Health at the university. His work emphasizes the prevention and treatment of kidney failure, cardiovascular disease, and their associated complications.
A graduate of the University of Melbourne, Professor Perkovic earned his PhD in 2005 and has since published over 200 peer-reviewed papers. Notable achievements include his leadership in the CREDENCE trial, an international study demonstrating a therapy that reduces kidney failure risk by a third. He has also played a pivotal role in developing affordable dialysis solutions, a project that garnered recognition as a finalist for the Eureka Prize.
