Tom is the Trends Editor at BBC Science Focus, where he covers a wide spectrum of emerging science stories spanning ecology, epidemiology, chemistry, and computer science. He holds an MPhil in advanced chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge, where his research focused on amyloid protein folding using fluorescent lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Before joining BBC Science Focus, Tom worked as a science communicator at the European Southern Observatory and has also written for GreenBiz and Geographical Magazine, bringing a strong blend of research experience and science communication to his editorial work.
