Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet
Dr. Shane C. Wright is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at Karolinska Institutet, specializing in G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) pharmacology. With a PhD from Karolinska and postdoctoral experience in Montréal and Stockholm, his work focuses on dissecting receptor signalling pathways using advanced biosensor techniques. He played a central role in developing a novel GRK-biased β₂-agonist, detailed in Cell, that improves fat burning and blood sugar control without common side effects of diabetes drugs. His broader research also explores receptor behaviour in areas like liver disease, adverse drug responses, and receptor structure–function dynamics, pushing forward personalized and safer drug development.
