Prof. Raymond Schiffelers is a prominent expert in nanomedicine and a Full Professor at UMC Utrecht, where he leads the Nanomedicine Lab within the Department of Clinical Chemistry & Hematology. His research focuses on developing synthetic and bio-inspired nanoparticles—such as lipid nanoparticles and extracellular vesicles—for targeted drug delivery. With a background in medical microbiology, he began his career studying liposomal targeting of antimicrobial agents and has since expanded into gene therapy and precision medicine.
