Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Oxford
Noel J. Buckley is a Professor of Neurobiology at the University of Oxford whose research seeks to decode the gene-regulatory networks that drive neuron development and degeneration. He uses stem cell models, genome editing, and large-scale transcriptional and epigenetic profiling to map how transcription factors—especially the REST protein—influence neuronal fate and survival. His work bridges basic neuroscience and translational goals, aiming to translate network insights into new therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s.
