Niels Riedemann
CEO and founder of InflaRx
Prof. Dr. Niels C. Riedemann is a physician-scientist and entrepreneur who founded InflaRx in 2007 and has served as its CEO since inception. He holds an M.D. from Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg (1998), trained additionally at Stanford, and completed postdoctoral research in complement immunology at the University of Michigan. He earned his board certification in general surgery and habilitation at Hannover Medical School, where he remains an adjunct professor, and later served as Vice Director of Intensive Care Medicine, leading a 50-bed ICU at Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, until 2015. He has over 20 years of research expertise in complement immunology and over 60 peer-reviewed publications. He spearheaded InflaRx’s commercial journey—including financing rounds and a Nasdaq IPO in 2017—and is inventor on core patents. He also contributes to science policy as co-chair of the Health Politics working group of Bio-Deutschland and sits on the board of trustees for the German Sepsis Foundation.
