Miguel Chillón Rodriguez

Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB)

Dr. Miguel Chillón Rodríguez, born in Barcelona in 1966, is a senior ICREA researcher and Associate Professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Holding a PhD in Genetics, he completed postdoctoral fellowships in viral vector gene therapy at the University of Iowa and Genethon in France. Since establishing his research group in 2001 and directing the UAB-VHIR Joint Unit from 2017, he has focused on innovative gene therapy strategies for neurodegenerative and rare nervous system disorders, as well as the development of advanced viral vectors. He leads the Vector Production Unit—Spain’s first certified source of adenovirus and AAV vectors—has published over 80 scientific articles, filed numerous patents, and co-founded two biotech spin-offs, NanoTherapix and Klogene. In 2018, he received UAB’s “Transfer Award” for excellence in technology transfer.
