Jeremiah Stamler Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University

Mary M. McDermott, MD is the Jeremiah Stamler Professor of Medicine at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, with joint appointments in general internal medicine and preventive medicine (epidemiology). A physician-scientist, she has devoted her career to understanding and treating peripheral artery disease (PAD), leading major clinical trials that test exercise and other interventions to preserve mobility in people with PAD. She has published widely, secured substantial NIH and AHA funding, and received national honors for her innovative work—most recently the American Heart Association’s Clinical Research Prize.
