Marla Broadfoot

Freelance Science Journalist

Marla Broadfoot, PhD, is a freelance science writer and editor with a doctorate in genetics and molecular biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and postdoctoral training at the National Human Genome Research Institute. Her work has appeared in publications such as Scientific American, Science, STAT, and The Scientist. She serves on the board of the National Association of Science Writers and is a contributing editor for American Scientist magazine. Her recent projects include a long-form investigation into the mental health of parents of LGBTQ+ teens, supported by the Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health Journalism.
