Manel Esteller

Professor of genetics at the University of Barcelona

Manel Esteller Badosa (born 1968 in Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona) is a prominent Spanish researcher renowned for his groundbreaking work in cancer epigenetics. He earned his medical degree in 1992 and subsequently a Ph.D. specializing in the molecular genetics of endometrial carcinoma in 1996, both from the University of Barcelona. 

Currently, Esteller serves as the Director of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC), where he leads the Cancer Epigenetics research group. He also holds a professorship in Genetics at the University of Barcelona's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and is an ICREA researcher.
