Co-director of type 2 diabetes systems genomics at the Broad Institute
J.T. Neal is the co-director of Type 2 Diabetes Systems Genomics and an institute scientist at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. He is also an investigator at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease. His lab develops genome-editing technologies and high-throughput single-cell imaging to study genetic variation in cancer, diabetes, and other diseases. Neal earned a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Washington and a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, followed by postdoctoral research at Stanford. He is a Merkin Institute Fellow and a recipient of the 2021 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award.
