Ellen Sidransky
Chief of the Molecular Neurogenetics Section at National Human Genome Research Institute
Dr. Ellen Sidransky is chief of the Molecular Neurogenetics Section at the National Human Genome Research Institute, NIH. A pediatrician and clinical geneticist, she is renowned for her research on Gaucher disease and Parkinson's disease, notably identifying glucocerebrosidase as a risk factor for parkinsonism. Dr. Sidransky has led large international studies on Parkinson’s and dementia with Lewy bodies and currently focuses on the genetic complexity of Mendelian disorders and developing therapies for Gaucher disease. She has authored over 200 papers and received multiple awards, including the NIH Director’s Award.
