Bruno Doiron

Assistant Professor in Department of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio.

As a project leader I have made major discoveries in the field of gene regulation by nutrients and have 2 patents on the modulation of glucose metabolism as it relates to the treatement diabetes and cancer. I have extensive experience in basic research at the physiologic and molecular levels and then application to the biotechnology field. I demonstrated for the first time that in vivo injection of viral vector to suppress Grb10 expression into the adult mouse pancreas induces apoptosis in both exocrine and endocrine tissues. This novel anti-apoptotic function of Grb10 in adult pancreas may help to elucidate the mechanisms which regulate the balance between insulin and glucagon cell mass in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes.
