Chief Science Officer at Colossal Biosciences
Beth Shapiro, D.Phil., serves as the Chief Science Officer at Colossal Biosciences. Prior to this role, she spent over two decades pioneering ancient DNA research in academic positions at Oxford University, Penn State University, and the University of California Santa Cruz, where she was a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator. Shapiro earned her BS and MS in Ecology from the University of Georgia and completed her DPhil in Zoology at Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. An elected member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, she has been recognized as a Packard Fellow, National Geographic Explorer, and MacArthur Fellow.
