Andrew A. Pieper, MD, PhD, is a board-certified psychiatrist and neuroscientist at Case Western Reserve University and affiliated hospitals in Cleveland, where he holds multiple professorships in psychiatry, neurosciences and pathology and directs the Brain Health Medicines Center at the Harrington Discovery Institute. He leads the Pieper Lab in pioneering research on neurodegenerative diseases, focusing on understanding how the brain can be protected and repaired, with notable work on Alzheimer’s and other conditions involving nerve-cell loss. Pieper also maintains a clinical practice, mentors graduate students, and aims to translate basic science discoveries into new neuroprotective therapies that support brain health and recovery.
