Adam Roberts

Principle Investigator at University College London.

After almost 20 years of research into AMR at University College London, Adam joined the LSTM in February 2017 as the AMR lead.

His research activities focus on transferable resistance and mobile genetic elements various pathogens including Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli, Clostridium difficile, Streptococcus spp., and Enterococcus spp.,

Additionally he is investigating the biological consequences of acquisition of AMR as acquisition can carry a biological cost which can reduce the fitness of the hosts. He is trying to of maximise this biological cost in order to minimise the persistence of resistance once a selection pressure is removed; aiming to be able to inform clinicians of treatment regimens which will do exactly this when multi-drug resistance occurs.
