Protein TGF-β1 was found to prevent stem cells from repairing tissue properly in old and young mice.
Scientists were able to reduce TGF-β1 levels and increase oxytocin.
Changing the molecule levels in the blood resulted in promoted rejuvenation and increased neurogenesis.
Recalibration of these signalling factors back reduced the p16 biomarker of cellular senescence.
The study was published in journal Aging.
