Exposure to air pollution over a long time is just as bad as smoking
Long term exposure to air pollutants can give rise to emphysema of lungs.
Fine particulate matter, nitrogen oxide, black carbon and ozone are the 4 main culprit pollutants.
Ground level ozone had the strongest association and was linked to a decline in lung function.
Need to reduce fossil fuel emissions and curb climate change caused by these pollutants.
