Bionic eye - a possible revolutionary device for people with vision loss

Bionic eye consists of glasses with an embedded camera, and a microchip implanted behind the retina.
Images are converted by the chip into electrical signals that are then sent to the brain.
Bionic eye was trialled in 5 people with no central vision, after 12 months major improvements have been noticed.
Technique only works in people who have fully developed and intact optic nerves.
Bionic eye was created by Biotech firm Pixium Vision.
